Growing deeper in faith on pilgrimage

The Church of the Annunciation Filipino Catholic Group in Tsuen Wan held its annual pilgrimage on September 27 to St. Teresa’s parish on Prince Edward Road, in anticipation of her upcoming feast day on October 1.

We highlighted the recurring theme Mercy and Compassion in sequel with the journey of our Pope Francis’ visit to The Philippines and as a prayerful preparation for the forthcoming Jubilee of the Year of Mercy.

In this walk of faith, we remembered our priests, who are acting in the person of Christ as we are celebrating the Year of Consecrated Life.

There were around 200 pilgrims, including members of our group, visitors and friends who boarded three busses to St. Teresa’s. At 2.00pm, we had a guided tour in which we were told in detail about the history of the church, as well as the relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, the patron of the parish, and those of her parents, Blessed Louis Martin and Marie Zelie Guerin.

Prayer activity followed, first with the recitation of the rosary then Eucharistic adoration. We were truly blessed with the presence of Monsignor Ante Jozic, the representative of the Holy See in Hong Kong, who gave a meaningful reflection of the day’s gospel.

It was also a joyful re-union with our former parish priest, Father Peter Leung Tak-choi, who is now the parish priest at St. Teresa’s. He presided over the Eucharistic adoration and benediction.

We thank the Lord for a fruitful pilgrimage. May this encounter lead us to grow deeper in faith and love of the Lord.
